The Art of Singing is a course designed for anyone interested in learning how to sing. During this twelve week session, we will discuss fundamental vocal technique, song interpretation, and an introduction to music theory. At the end of the twelve week session, students will participate in a vocal recital as a final project for the course.
- Week One: Lecture One: The Art of Singing
This lecture deals with the four parts of singing, vocal technique, artistry, vocal registers/classification, and a dropped EE.
- Week Two: Lecture Two: Breathing and "Spring is Here"
This lecture deals with the four methods of breathing, engaging lower back breathing, and "Spring is Here"
When does class start?
Nov 5th to Dec 17th, Christmas/New Yearks Break: Dec 24 to January 31st, Jan 7th to Feb 11th.

What materials do I need for class?
You will not necessarily need any materials for this course but, having a mirror would be helpful.
Where will be getting our class materials?
Please go to www.reddit.com/r/MUS200VP. This is where you will find lectures, post assignments, and access other necessary information. The only assignments that will not be uploaded are the ones that have to be uploaded to our class Soundcloud.
What is the generally layout for each class?
Each class day, we have three major points that we will be covering. I will do a video for some lectures and live stream for others. I've made a example outline below.

What is the Final Project: Vocal Recital?
As we progress with each class, you will be working on a final project which will be a song of your choice. You will upload it to our Sound Cloud and it will be like an online recital for everyone to listen to :)
You may want to buy a 1 in. or 1 1/2 in. binder to store all of your music.
I have my B.F.A. in Musical Theater--my emphasis being Vocal Performance. In addition to a degree, I have five years of on-going professional experience in performance and instruction.
