Based on newly-formulated (and somewhat convoluted, not to mention boring as hell) theoretical terminology behind the emerging science of Social Surveillance by the SPAN Cabal, this course will teach you the basics on both theoretical and practical aspects of how to gather, link, compile and interpret someone's information predominantly over the Internet into a well-structured "dox".
By the end of this course, you will not only know how to build proper dox, but also how to overall find the personal information and the "Internet Footprint" of most people on the Internet.
Classes will be taught over IRC by me (online handle: AnnaMujou) at #doxing101 in irc.synirc.net! (Walkthrough coming soon!)
- no lectures added
*Basic IRC usage (A small walkthrough will be provided in order to connect to the class' IRC channel)
*Basic Internet knowledge (If you're here, then you probably know enough!)
*Two functional hands or similar
*Good knowledge of the English language
This syllabus is a work in progress!
Class 1: Quick Introduction with a side dish of philosophy (DONE! Logs available here http://pastebin.com/zPn7c4rQ)
*What is doxing?
*How is doxing done - The doxing process according to Luis Jorge Borges (The "Borgesian Method")
*Why doxing - is there a "need" of doxing in modern times?
*Is doxing ethical? The end of Internet Privacy
*The Paranoia Behind Doxing - Nandaba's rationalization behind the "Delete F*****g Everything" process
*Brief history of Doxing
Class 2: Theoretical aspects of doxing
*How Doxing works the way it does: Airskadt's/Nandaba's "Social Vulnerability" theory
*Concepts: Personally-Identifiable-Information (PII), Data, Data Weight, Data Consistency, MIDODS (Multiple Iterations of Data on Different [Web]Sites), Virtual Data-Gathering Tools
*A slightly more In-depth Analysis of the Borgesian Method explained in Class 1
Class 3: Practical aspects of doxing
*From username to home address: Where's the starting point?
*Concept: Internet Footprint
*Google is your BFF - Crash course on Google Fu techniques for doxing purposes. Also some other search engines
*The art of cross-referencing and mass data mining: How to Google the crap out of everything and kicking it until it starts making sense. Concept: Common Handle, Common Secondary Traits
*Other Online Tools: White Pages
*Other Online Tools: Social Networks or: Why is "privacy" the biggest joke in Modern Internet Times
*Online Tools for the online Tools God: Reverse-searches, IP Whoising, etc. etc.
*Minor doxing tips and tricks: How to get a FB profile out of a picture, etc. Concept: Airskadt's "Chain Doxing"
Class 4: Case Studies
*Maybe a live doxing session will be too assholeish. Let me plan this one more carefully.
Because the origin of the material used by this course stems from a fairly "silly" Internet group , some parts will mostly consist of a loosely-tied bunch of half-finished essays written by members of said group, so expect some dumb "terminologies" here are there (seriously, Multiple Iterations of Data on Different Websites? And that's one of the examples...) which actually hold something logical behind it.
