Curiosity and an internet connection. Sudoku apps (in particular, :) Sudoku by Jason Linhart), books, or any other puzzles recommended but not mandatory.
Course will be taught through weekly releases of with slides and example puzzles, ideally compatible to print and play on your own. Formal schedule to be released in the future, but some basic topics are listed below:

I'm a huge fan of :) Sudoku by Jason Linhart for iPhone/iTouch/iPad, and recommend . The absolute best way to play Sudoku, in my opinion. There's a free daily version with 16 different difficulties, but for $2.99 you can play an unlimited number of puzzles, including tutorials, custom-designed puzzles, or even puzzles in print that you capture with the camera. They have a new player's forum at forum.enjoysudoku.com
