This class examines the political, economic, institutional, social, and cultural history of Rome from its foundation until the end of the Roman Republic. Focuses on prominent figures and moments of crisis as it examines the forces that brought Rome to the forefront of the Mediterranean world.
This class will discuss the three major periods that make up the "Golden Age". In each period, we will cover the history of the era, the places where events unfolded, and the major Pirates of the time. The final section will detail how much difference there was between myth and reality, as well as how life really was for those who sought a life of high seas adventure.
